Back where the journey began
Some rooms remind you where your journey began.
Today I had the privilege of joining a meet and greet with students of UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus, together with our Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir, and fellow alumni from different departments of UCSI University's main campus in Kuala Lumpur.
As alumni, we came to share our experiences. We left with a lot more than we gave.
What stayed with me
- Curiosity is universal. Whether in Kuala Lumpur or Dhaka, the questions were sharp, ambitious, and global.
- Alumni networks are career accelerators. Most of what I know about navigating careers came from people a few steps ahead of me, and I wanted to be that for someone today.
- Leadership shows up. Seeing our VC invest her time to connect directly with students was a powerful reminder that great institutions are built on access, not distance.
Two notes
To the students: your degree opens the door, but your network, your consistency, and your willingness to ask questions will carry you through it. Don't wait until graduation to start building.
To my fellow alumni: give back early. A single conversation can change someone's direction.
